Terms of use
This is a translation. The German version (Nutzungsbedingungen) is the binding one.
These terms apply to the use of Piclines at piclines.com. Your contract partner is Sahand Azizigargari, Zehando, Marienstraße 8, 01945 Ruhland, Germany ("we"). You can reach us at support@piclines.com. What happens to your data is in the privacy policy.
1. What Piclines is
Piclines turns pictures (JPG, PNG, WebP) and pages of PDF files into lines and delivers them as DXF, DWG and SVG. Software does the conversion, without a person checking it.
The result is a tracing of the picture. It may leave lines out, contain extra ones or differ from the original, and its measurements are only as exact as the picture and the size you give allow. Check the result before you use it, especially before you cut material, make or build anything from it. Piclines does not replace a professional drawing or a check by a professional.
2. The free beta
- Piclines is a beta: it is still being developed and may have faults.
- The preview needs no account. Downloading needs one, and a download costs one credit. Downloading the same conversion again costs nothing while it is kept.
- During the beta you pay nothing. Each new account gets credits from us, free; your account shows how many it has left. Credits have no cash value, are not paid out and cannot be transferred. There is no claim to more credits.
- We may change, pause or end the beta. You pay only for what you expressly buy; paying is not possible during the beta.
3. Your account
- An account is for one person. Sign up with an email address that is yours, and keep your password secret.
- Minors need the consent of their parents or other legal guardians.
- You can delete your account at any time, under "Your account" → "Delete the account". That ends this contract; unused credits lapse.
- If we end the beta or the contract, unused free credits lapse too; they are not paid out. What happens to credits you bought will be set out in these terms before buying becomes possible.
- We may end the contract by email with two weeks' notice, or at once for good cause (section 5).
4. Your pictures and results
- Upload only pictures you may use for this: your own, openly licensed ones, or ones you hold the necessary rights to. This applies especially to other people's logos, trademarks and drawings, and to photos in which people can be recognised.
- The rights to your pictures stay with you. You allow us only to store and convert them, as far as Piclines needs.
- You may use the files Piclines makes from your picture freely, commercially too. Other people's rights in the original, such as in a logo, are not affected.
- We delete uploads and results 24 hours after the upload and keep no copy. Until then they may also be in the server's daily backup, which is overwritten after seven days (privacy policy, section 2). Download what you need while it is there. Piclines is not a storage service.
5. What is not allowed
- uploading content that breaks the law or infringes other people's rights;
- using Piclines through scripts or programs instead of the website, getting around its protections and limits, or disrupting the service;
- creating several accounts to get more credits.
After a breach we may delete the files concerned and block the account or end the contract at once. Report illegal content to support@piclines.com.
6. Availability and limits
We try to keep Piclines available, but during the free beta we owe no particular availability. Maintenance and faults may interrupt the service; a conversion under way may then break off. So that the service works for everyone, technical limits apply, for example to a file's size, the time a conversion may take and the number of conversions per hour; the page names them when you reach one.
7. Liability
- We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, for defects fraudulently concealed and under the German Product Liability Act.
- For slight negligence we are liable only for breaching essential contractual obligations, meaning those whose fulfilment makes using Piclines possible at all and on which you may regularly rely, and only for the foreseeable damage typical of this contract.
- Whoever uses a result unchecked (section 1) or does not download it in time (section 4) shares the blame, which may reduce a claim (§ 254 BGB).
8. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we email you the new version in advance. It applies to you only once you agree to it; until then, the version you agreed to applies. If you do not agree, we may end the contract with two weeks' notice. Your statutory rights are not affected by any change.
9. Final provisions
- German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another EU country, you keep the protection of that country's mandatory provisions.
- We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
- If a provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remain valid; the statutory rule takes its place.
